Kohlrabi

This fine vegetable is eaten raw or cooked. Raw it is very pleasant, and its origin in nature is the same as that of Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Collard greens and Brussels sprouts. It grows well and seems impervious to many insects or I was just lucky. About 12 plants were purchased from a garden supply.

When did you plant these. Are those already to pick?
Total newbie to this...found your blog from the gardening forum. just joined today.
Just started my first garden this year...got an allotment garden in Toronto.
Thanks in advance..this is the exact kind of blog/forum I have been looking for...soooo many questions...but I guess I do have lots of time. ; )
Plants are from as supplier, and were planted in late April. They are ready to pick now, since the bulb should not be larger than a baseball, since they tend to get tough.
I have grown them from seed successfully. They could be planted now, but thin to about six inches between plants for maximum growth.
They tend to mature all at the same time, so spacing the planting in time gives a longer supply. I usually do only one planting and enjoy them due to our short season. They can withstand a bit of frost.
