Delphinium

This is my one delphinium. It is six years old and was one spike the first year. It starts growing as soon as the snow disappears, and often there is snow on the ground when it shoots up.

I've seen a lot of these in our allotment garden. They're stunning flowers. How long do they bloom? Can they be used as a source for pollination of plants? i.e. cucumbers zucchini tomatoes?

Bees are usually around the delphinium. Flowers last about ten days. The flowering stalks are hollow and wind damage can be an issue. Sometimes I stake the stalks. They also flower again in the Fall with a reduced spike, if the initial flowering stalks are cut to the ground.
