Painting Rebar for Plant Supports.

http://Rebarp.notlong.com

27 March 2007. Eight foot rebar painted to inhib rust with Tremclad for use as supports for the tomato cages, and to tie the top part of the tomatoe plants. This coating will last for about 7 years, judging from past experiences.

This is a cheap and effective way to support tomato plants.

Using rebar sounds like a great idea for tomatoes. Lee Valley has terracotta finials for making tripod supports. I wonder if rebar would work with those to support beans, etc.

I use the rebar for almost all my plant supports. They are available in several useful lengths and don't break like many of the bamboo types.
