Always a pretty plant in the garden. This plant over-wintered in Zone 5. Usually the tubers are lifted and storaged for winter.
This Journal will depict my efforts during 2008 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada Zone 5. There are many pictures of various operations. Events and tips will be added as the season advances. The property is 0.4 acres with flower and vegetable gardens. For reference here is the 2007 effort. http://www.durgan.org/Blog/Durgan.html

Durgan, you actually mean you left the plant in the garden and it flowered the following spring? I love dahlias, but I never managed to overwinter them. I am in zone 5b. Can you please share your method? Thank you. Teresa
Survival was more accidental than design. I was as surprised as anybody, when the Dahlia started to grow. Possibly a good location and good ground cover. In general the bulbs have to be pulled in the Fall.
